The St. Louis Cardinals confirmed this morning that they will move forward with both the Cardinals Caravans and Winter Warm-Up activities scheduled for Sunday, January 15th and Monday, January 16th. The Cardinals made the decision to confirm both events after consulting with the National Weather Service and representatives of the Missouri and Illinois Departments of Transportation.
“We understand the worst of the storm will have passed before we open our doors to fans on Sunday,” said Michael Hall, Executive Director of Cardinals Care and Vice President of Community Relations. “We are blessed to have all of our players scheduled to sign on Sunday already safely in St. Louis and are confident those scheduled to arrive Sunday shouldn’t be delayed by weather.”
The team also confirmed today that the Cardinals Caravans sponsored by Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance and scheduled for Sunday and Monday will take place asscheduled. Caravan 5 will visit the towns of Mattoon, Decatur, Springfield and Effingham in Illinois. Caravan 6 will visit Carbondale Illinois, Evansville, Indiana, Paducah, Kentucky and Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The Cardinals had cancelled the caravans scheduled for Friday and Saturday, as well as cancelled the first day of the Winter Warm-Up, due to severe winter weather, flight cancelations and the recommendation of highway department officials to encourage the public to stay off of area roads while the departments treat them for icy conditions.
