Saint Louis baseball will host a hitting and fielding camp on January 16 with special instructor Kolten Wong, second baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals. The camp will be at the Bud Dome (9711 Green Park Industrial Dr.) in St. Louis. Cost is $100 per camper.
Wong was a first round pick of the Cardinals in 2011 (22nd overall). He made his MLB debut with the Cards on August 16, 2013, against the Chicago Cubs. Since then, Wong has played in over 400 games with St. Louis. In 2014, his first full season with the Cardinals, he scored 52 runs with 14 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs and 42 RBIs in 113 games. Wong finished third in the NL Rookie of the Year voting that season. He has a .978 career fielding percentage.
Saint Louis brings in 16 newcomers for the 2017 season. The Billiken schedule features several prominent teams including Michigan and Oklahoma State. Saint Louis opens the 2017 season against Lafayette on Feb. 17 in San Antonio, Texas. The first SLU home game is on March 3 against Fairleigh Dickenson.
