The St. Louis Blues have found a backup goalie for Jake Allen.
The club signed free agent goaltender Carter Hutton to a two-year contract worth $2.25 million on Friday, the first day of free agency.
Hutton just finished up a two-year contract with the Nashville Predators. In limited work behind Pekka Rinne last season, the 30-year-old native of Thunder Bay, Ontario recorded a 7-5-4 record in 17 games, posting a 2.33 goals-against average, a .918 save-percentage and two shutouts.
During the 2013-14 season, Hutton posted a career-high 20 wins in Nashville.
Overall, Hutton has appeared in 76 NHL games, posting a 33-24-12 record with a 2.56 goals-against average, .910 save-percentage and 12 shutouts.
Earlier Friday, the Blues signed Jake Allen to a four-year contract extension, locking him up through the 2020-21 season.
