Former Grizzlie Charlie Lisk will be inducted into the Frontier League Hall of Fame during the 2016 All-Star Game. Lisk, along with four other players, a special contributor and a special moment will be honored Wednesday, July 13th in Florence, Kentucky.
Lisk first signed with the White Sox out of high school and spent five years in affiliated professional baseball before moving to the Windy City Thunderbolts.
“I was planning on retiring but (General Manager) Steve (Gomric) convinced me to come work out with (Manager) Phil (Warren),” Lisk says. “I talked to my wife and she convinced me to keep playing. After my first three days at Gateway, I knew I wanted to play there as long as I could.”
“I joke with them that I was mediocre long enough to stay in the league,” Lisk says. “I played with a hell of a lot of good guys there that were talented so the fact that my numbers are still above theirs is very special.”
“I’m ecstatic for Charlie,” Gomric says. “He was a tremendous player and is deserving of this honor. Can’t wait to see him at the All-Star game and watch him get inducted.”
