Memphis Tops Nashville 5-0 in Series Finale

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Memphis Redbirds (12-16) had a strong team performance Monday night to take the final game of the series against the Nashville Sounds (14-17), winning 5-0.

Arturo Reyes picked up his second straight win as a starter for the Redbirds, which evens his record at 2-2 for the season. In Reyes’s longest outing of the year, he threw 7.2 innings and gave up no runs on the night.  All six hits given up by Reyes were singles and he finished with six strikeouts and no walks.

Ryan Sherriff and Juan Gonzalez each had solid relief performances. They combined to throw 2.1 innings, gave up no runs and struck out three to close out the series.

Alberto Rosario had his best offensive game of the season going 3-for-4 and picking up his third RBI.  This was Rosario’s first multi-hit game of the season and his first three hit game since May 29, 2012, when he played for the Salt Lake Bees.

Patrick Wisdom also had a great night at the plate going 2-for-3 and hitting his second home run of the season.  Wisdom also had his fourth game where he had two runs batted in to give him 11 RBI on the year.  Tommy Pham, Dean Anna and David Washington each got a hit that contributed to Memphis scoring five runs tonight.

The Redbirds head to Omaha for four games TuesdayFriday before returning to AutoZone Park on Saturday, May 14 to play eight games in nine days. May 14 is Star Wars Night, Adam Wainwright Bobblehead giveaway and postgame fireworks.
