Saint Louis baseball will play the Missouri Tigers on March 29 at Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals. This is the first meeting between the two teams since April 1, 2009 (played at Busch Stadium).
This contest will be the 100th meeting between the two programs with Saint Louis last winning on April 7, 2004.
Last season, the Tigers posted a 30-28 overall record and a 15-15 ledger in SEC contests. This year they return five position players and two weekend starters, including pre-season All-American Tanner Houck, the consensus No. 1 pick for the 2017 MLB Draft. At the plate, Ryan Howard leads Missouri after spending his summer as the starting shortstop for the US National Team.
Saint Louis returns five position starters and two starting pitchers for the 2016 season. The Billikens seek their fifth consecutive Atlantic 10 regular-season championship. Senior infielder Braxton Martinez returns for SLU and was recently named the No. 16 senior in the NCAA by Perfect Game. On the hill, junior Zach Girrens earned accolades as the 250th ranked prospect in all of college baseball.
The Bills open the season with a four-game series against BYU in Las Vegas, Nev., on Feb. 19-22. They open their home schedule on March 2 at 2 p.m. against fellow Jesuit institution Rockhurst.
