The St. Louis Rams have traded WR Chris Givens to the Baltimore Ravens for a 7th round draft pick in 2017. So far this season, Givens only has one catch for seven yards.
Givens was a fourth round draft choice out of Wake Forest by the Rams in 2012. He had an impressive rookie year, totaling 42 catches for 698 yards and three touchdowns. He also was the Rams kick returner that year. Givens hasn’t amassed more than one touchdown catch in a season since his rookie year.
Givens failed to live up to the hype that his rookie season brought along. The trade comes to no surprise though, as Rams WR Brian Quick was made active for this week’s game against the Cardinals. Quick was off to a career best season in 2014 before suffering a major shoulder injury which sidelined him for the rest of the year.
The Rams have to have seven inactives for each game and Quick has been inactive in all three games thus far and the trading of Givens has opened up a spot at WR for Quick. It’s unsure how much he will play on Sunday but it’s confirmed that Quick will be making his 2015 debut Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
