Cardinals Greatest Postseason Moments Video Contest Announced

by Press Release

The St. Louis Cardinals have launched the Greatest Postseason Moments Video Contest challenging fans of all ages to make a video recreating their favorite Postseason moment, or moments from Cardinals history. One winner will be chosen to receive a special, once-in-a-lifetime, VIP Postseason experience – four field box tickets to the Cardinals first home game during the 2015 Postseason.

The Postseason is traditionally an exciting time in St. Louis.  From Ozzie Smith’s unexpected homer that ignited Jack Buck’s famous “Go Crazy Folks!,” to Bob Gibson striking out a record 17 batters in Game 1 of the 1968 World Series, or David Freese sending the team to Game 7 in 2011 with a walk-off homerun, the Cardinals have a rich Postseason history full of unforgettable moments and memories. The Greatest Postseason Moments Video Contest is designed to encourage fans to get into the Postseason spirit today by celebrating the great moments from the team’s past in keeping with the Tradition Meets Today theme of the 2015 season.

Fans who participate in the Greatest Postseason Moments Video Contest are asked to create a video up to three minutes in length that highlight memorable events from Cardinals Postseason history. Fans can re-create outstanding plays or calls, unforgettable player celebrations, or even show how they themselves celebrated those extraordinary moments. Fans are encouraged to get creative and help energize St. Louis’ Postseason spirit for a chance to witness yet another extraordinary moment in history!

The Cardinals Greatest Postseason Moments Video Contest is one of several #CardsFanFlix promotions the team has undertaken this season to encourage fans to create videos that celebrate the St. Louis Cardinals. More than seventy fans submitted videos to the Ultimate Fan Video Contest in March, with Rev. Robbie Sondag of Fort Wayne Indiana being crowned the winner with this video. More than forty fans submitted music videos in the Take Me Out to The Ballgame Music Video Talent contest, and Germantown Elementary School was crowned champions with this video after more than 11,000 votes were cast in fan balloting. Other #CardsFanFlixinitiatives included the team’s 2015 All-Star Campaign Video the Vote promotion, as well as the team’s season-long celebration of Red Schoendienst, #LoveRed2, where fans are encouraged to share via social media (using the hashtag #LoveRed2) congratulatory video messages to the beloved Hall of Famer who is celebrating 70 seasons and counting in an MLB uniform.   The team’s Ultimate Fan Broadcaster Video Contest concludes today.

Through the #CardsFanFlix fan engagement initiative, the team hopes to tap into the increasing trend of user-generated video content made possible by advances with mobile technology and social media. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Vine, Instagram and Twitter have all seen increased video content. YouTube estimates that approximately 300 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube every minute.
