Saturday evening sees Saint Louis FC with a rare chance to win a double over another USL team as Oklahoma City Energy visit Worldwide Technology Soccer Park.
OKC Energy lost in a somewhat surprising manner to Saint Louis in an earlier match up in Oklahoma, in what was arguably Saint Louis FC’s finest league performance to date. After going behind 1-0 early in the game to a Chuy Sanchez goal, the Saints stormed back with an excellent solo goal from Jamiel Hardware and Mike Ambersley netting the winner in a 2-1 victory that saw all 3 points return to Missouri.
However, since that loss OKC managed to go ten games unbeaten, and despite recent woes which included a 6-2 loss at Louisville, the Energy will be a formidable opponent for Dale Schilly’s team which includes one of the leagues foremost danger man in Danni Konig.
Saint Louis themselves bounced back from a rough loss in Montreal by beating Toronto FC2 in Ontario last week and will try and gain some momentum as they try to make the push for the post season playoffs.
Currently lying in 8th spot with 21 points, STLFC need to catch the Red Bulls2 who currently occupy the final playoff spot in 6th with 25 points. Oklahoma City Energy lie 5th in the USL western conference with 27 points.
Tickets are available for the inaugural “Vince Drake” night who will be celebrated as the most successful high school soccer coach in Missouri. Tickets can be attained via saintlouisfc.com
