Saint Louis FC return home to face Richmond

After a busy week in North Carolina that saw Saint Louis FC return with a tie and a win, Dale Schilly’s team returns home on Saturday to face a storied US Soccer club in Richmond Kickers.

Last Wednesday night Saint Louis FC fought out a 0-0 tie at Wilmington Hammerheads and then proceeded to win 2-1 on Saturday against the Charlotte Independence with Parker Maher and Kingsley Bryce scoring their first goals for the club.

“What a great win,” Head Coach Dale Schilly said following the game. “We have had some memorable performances this year but tonight was all about team sacrifice and laying it all out on the line for the guy next to you. I’m really proud of our guys tonight.”

Schilly will be looking for more of the same at home where the team has struggled to find any momentum. Their only league win was back in May in the home game against Wilmington and the only other home victories came in the US Open Cup. The last home game resulted in a 4-1 loss to the New York Red Bull 2 team.

Richmond Kickers also come into the game in a run of form they’d like to snap, They last won in early June during a home victory against Charlotte, and most recently were demolished by Louisville City at Slugger Field. However the early form of the Kickers has sustained their position in the USL playoff race as they went unbeaten for their first seven games in the league.

Saint Louis are on 18 points after playing 15 games, while Richmond have 26 point from 17 games.
