St. Louis, Mo– On day 1 of NHL Free Agency, big moves always happen. Trades are a part of this. Surprising news came out that St. Louis Blues D-man, Kevin Shattenkirk is rumored to be on the trade block.

Shattenkirk posted 44pts in 56 games for the Blues last season. He was named to the 2015 NHL All-Star team. In the playoffs, Shattenkirk posted 8pts in 6 games.

Who would you get in return? Well, it’s rumored that the Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, and Edmonton Oilers are “IN” on Shattenkirk. Possible Claude Giroux (PHI), combo of Dekeyser/Tatar (DET), or Schultz/Eberle (EDM). *These names are not confirmed

I can’t see St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong making this move because Shattenkirk is part of the young core of players that include: Lehtera, Schwartz, Tarasenko, and Pietrangelo. However, as Blues fans have seen, the Blues core players need a shake up of some sorts after three straight first round exits in the playoffs.

Rumors are rumors. As confirmed here by Craig Custance, there should be no truth to this possible trade. But stranger things have happened.
