Saint Louis FC travel to Pittsburgh

by Matthew Bird

Fresh from the grueling 6 games in 23 days, Saint Louis were able to finally take a breath and regroup before heading to Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh to play the Riverhounds on Saturday at noon central time.

In a reversal of the first home game for STLFC, which ended in a 1-1 draw, Saint Louis will look forward to extending a current streak of only a single loss to Toronto 2 in the previous seven league and cup games.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds enter this matchup having just won against their fellow Keystone state rivals Harrisburg City Islanders in a bizarre game. Harrisburg were leading 5-3 going into the final minutes only for Pittsburgh to win against the odds scoring three goals to snatch a dramatic late win.

Saint Louis FC is coming off two battling draws to Louisville City FC, 3-3 at Worldwide Technology Soccer park and 1-1 last week at Slugger Field in Louisville.

Charles Renken will look to keep his good form going as injuries have blighted his season, Renken was the key man to come on the field and earn a penalty for STLFC in the pivotal moment in the Open Cup game against Minnesota United last Wednesday, and he was able to score the all important equalizer to level the game in Louisville.

Saint Louis FC are currently 7th in the USL eastern conference on 12 points, Pittsburgh are 5th on 15 points having played one more game.

The game will be shown live on the big screen at Ballpark village at noon followed by the Champions League Final between Juventus and Barcelona
