Billikens Well Represented on All-Conference Teams

Saint Louis baseball was well-represented on the Atlantic 10 Conference postseason awards list. Junior outfielderMichael Bozarth was a first team All-Conference honoree, while relief pitcher Brett Shimanovsky, starting pitcher Clay Smithand first baseman Mike Vigliarolo were named to the second team. Alex King and Parker Sniatynski were named to the All-Rookie Team. Bozarth and Danny Mannion earned Academic All-Conference plaudits.

Bozarth earns All-Conference accolades for the first time in his career. He led the Atlantic 10 with a .403 batting average and .482 on-base percentage this season. Bozarth was also fourth in slugging percentage (.604), fifth in runs scored (45) and sixth in stolen bases (18). He also earned Academic All-Conference honors after posting a 3.57 GPA in his major of business administration. Bozarth holds Atlantic 10 Championship records in runs scored (9) and home runs (3) in an Atlantic 10 Tournament (both set in 2013, he was named to the All-Tournament team)

Shimanovsky also earns his first All-Conference accolade. He leads the Billiken bullpen with a 2.05 ERA and five saves. In conference games only, Shimanovsky has a 0.70 ERA with a 4-0 record and two saves. He is second in the A-10 this season with four pick offs and has yet to allow a stolen base against him this season.

Smith returns to the second team after earning the accolade in the 2013 season. This season, he starts on Fridays for the Billikens, posting an 8-3 record with a 2.95 ERA and 66 strikeouts to 27 walks. Smith has a 3.00 career ERA, fourth all-time at SLU and his 24 career wins are second in the record book. He is the eighth Billiken to amass 200 career strikeouts (242).

Vigliarolo earns his third consecutive All-Conference honor. He was a first team selection in 2013 and 2014. Vigliarolo is second on the Bills with a .332 batting average while maintaining a .442 slugging percentage and a .385 on-base percentage. He owns several school records and is on the verge of capturing SLU’s all-time hits record. 

King and Sniatynki are the Billiken representatives on the A-10 All-Rookie team. King has been SLU’s starting shortstop as a freshman and has a .284 batting average with a .358 slugging percentage and a .374 on-base percentage. He is second on the team in walks drawn with 22. Sniatynski has been a versatile outfielder for SLU, seeing time in left field, center field and right field. He has a .313 batting average with a .393 slugging percentage and a .385 on-base percentage.

Mannion earns a spot on the Academic All-Conference team for the first time in his career. The sophomore has a a 3.99 GPA in pre-med/biology. He hits .293 with a .333 slugging percentage and a .366 on-base percentage.

The Billikens are the top seed in this week’s Atlantic 10 Championship. Saint Louis will play the winner of Wednesday’s Davidson/VCU contest on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. (CT).
