Billikens Finish Regular Season with 14-8 Victory

Saint Louis junior outfielder Michael Bozarth went 4-4 with a pair of home runs to lead the Billikens to a 14-8 win over Saint Joseph’s. The win moves the Bills to 35-19 overall and 16-8 in Atlantic 10 games. Saint Louis has won the outright Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship.

The Billikens are the first team to “four-peat” as the Atlantic 10 Regular Season Champions since Rhode Island did it from 2003-06.

Freshman Connor Lehmann (3-3) picked up the win in relief, going 3.1 innings with three strikeouts and no walks.

The Billiken offense continued to fire on all cylinders scoring one run in the first, eight in the second and one in the third. Saint Joe’s managed to score two in the bottom of the second to give SLU an 10-2 lead through three.

The Hawks started a rally in the fourth, scoring three more. The Billikens answered with one in the sixth to draw the lead to 11-5 headed to the seventh.

SLU scored one run each in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, while Saint Joseph’s plated two in the seventh and one in the eighth for a final of 14-8.

Bozarth was SLU’s top hitter on the day. He finished 4-4 with two home runs, a double, an infield single, four runs scored and five RBIs. In the series, Bozarth went 8-13 with four home runs, a double, seven runs scored and nine RBIs. In addition to Bozarth, Mike Vigliarolo had a good day at the plate. he was 3-5 with two runs and an RBI.
