Saint Louis sophomore southpaw Brett Shimanovsky has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference baseball Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced today. It is the first weekly award of Shimanovsky’s career and the ninth award for the Billikens this season.
Shimanovsky was SLU’s top pitcher out of the bullpen this weekend. He made appearances on consecutive days, helping the Billikens win the series over George Washington. In all, Shimanovsky threw 7.2 shutout innings and allowed three hits and one walk. He picked up the save on May 9 (his fifth of the year) and the win on May 10 (his fourth of the year). Shimanovsky leads the Bills in saves and is tied for third in wins this season.
The Billikens wrap up the regular season this weekend, May 14-16, when they take on Saint Joseph’s on the road. First pitch of the three-game series is set for 2 p.m. (CT) on Thursday.
