(OMAHA, NE) The St. Louis Surge, defending champions of the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League (WBCBL), netted a 98-80 win over the Nebraska Strikers Saturday night at Grace University.
The 18-point, season-opening victory extended St. Louis’ WBCBL winning streak to twelve games.
Leading 54-40 at intermission, the Surge pushed the score to 76-58 heading into the fourth quarter.
Both teams were even in scoring in the final stanza (22-22) and St. Louis maintained the differential en route to the triumph.
Surge newcomers Sam Price and Brittany Carter scored 23 and 19 points, respectively. Jaleesa Butler collected 16 points while Leah Cotton tallied 15.
St. Louis made 10 three-pointers in the contest, paced by Price’s five.
The Surge (1-0) returns to action Sunday, May 17 at Minnesota.
