Brianna Lore doubled home the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Saint Louis to a 4-3 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over George Mason Sunday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.
The Billikens, who captured the series two games to one, improved to 20-11 overall and 5-3 in the A-10. George Mason slipped to 9-16, 3-3.
Elizabeth Everingham drew a two-out walk to ignite the game-winning rally. Pinch runner Brittany Durant moved to second when Allie Macfarlane’s ground ball was mishandled by the George Mason shortstop. Durant scored when Lore sent a shot down the left-field line for her second hit of the day.
Saint Louis answered a first-inning George Mason run with Macfarlane’s two-out RBI double in the bottom of the frame.
The Patriots plated two runs in the third, but again the Billikens answered in their half of the inning. Alex Nickel led off with a single, and Lindsay Friedman followed with her team-leading eighth home run of the season.
Lore (9-7) pitched out of trouble in the fifth and sixth, stranding two Mason runners in each inning. In her ninth complete game of the season, the junior left-hander struck out six while allowing two earned runs, five hits and three walks.
Saint Louis steps out of conference play Wednesday, traveling to Columbia to take on Missouri. Game time is 4 p.m.
