Wainwright diagnosed with abdominal strain

Cardinal Nation you can breathe again. Adam Wainwright visited the specialist at Washington University and was diagnosed with an abdominal strain that will take two weeks before it is fully healed.

Wainwright is dealing with abdominal strain, prescribed rest. “Best news we could have gotten,” Mozeliak says #cardinals #stlcards

Wainwright will continue to be able to throw with the injury, although they will “take it slow for 4 or 5 days.” This will not drastically impact the Cardinals’ plan for Wainwright, as the coaching staff had already discussed limiting him in Spring Training before the ab scare.

This was obviously the news everyone was hoping for. Before the visit to Dr. Michael Brunt, speculation was flying that it was a sports hernia that could sideline the Cardinal Ace for up to six weeks.  However, barring any setbacks,  this scare could be something we barely remember on opening day.

“This shouldn’t change the start of the season outlook,” said Mozeliak. “But time will tell.”
