RICHMOND, Va. – Saint Louis fell 74-54 at No. 25 VCU Tuesday in Atlantic 10 Conference men’s basketball action at the Siegel Center in Richmond, Va.
The Billikens dip to 10-16 overall and 2-11 in the A-10. VCU, ranked No. 25 in this week’s AP Top 25, improves to 20-6 and is a half game up in the A-10 standings with a 10-3 mark.
Milik Yarbrough scored a game-high 17 points for the Billikens on 8-of-13 shooting from the field. He also grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
Miles Reynolds, who started for the first time in his career, scored nine points. Marcus Bartley also chipped in nine points thanks to three second-half 3-pointers.
Treveon Graham, who led VCU with 16 points, scored the first eight points for the Rams as they stretched out to a 10-2 lead to start.
The Billikens responded with a 10- run to grab a 14-12 lead midway through the first half. Yarbrough sparked the rally with a pair of baskets, and Austin Gillmann and Austin McBroom completed the spurt with a pair of 3-pointers.
VCU came back with a 13-0 rally and led 34-22 at halftime.
Yarbrough scored the Billikens’ first two buckets of the second half to pull SLU within 13 of the lead, but SLU couldn’t get any closer and VCU cruised to the 20-point win.
The Billikens return to action on Sunday when they host La Salle (14-11, 6-6 A-10 entering tomorrow’s game vs. Duquesne) to Chaifetz Arena in a 1:30 p.m. tip on NBCSN.
