The Billikens completed their weekend of dominance over the Panthers of Eastern Illinois today with a final score of 13-2.
The first period began with physical play from both sides. Three minor penalties for roughing were assessed to each team. Charlie Garavaglia started the scoring off with a wonderful shot from the top of the left face off dot. Later in the period Isaac Rider pounded home a rebound from the shot of Niall Caparon. The final tally in the first came from a slap shot off the crossbar and in from senior forward, Vinny Cannamela.
The second period consisted of six goals from the Billikens! Curran Eigelberger scored all three of his goals this afternoon in the second period. Charlie Garavaglia finished off his hat trick in the second period. Freshmen forward Colton Schalk also scored making it 9-2 Bills.
The third period was more domination as Andrew Greene, Colton Schalk, Adam Dettenmeir, and Connor Mullen found the back of the net. Dettenmeir finished the afternoon with five points. Andrew Greene finished the afternoon with three points after suffering a minor upper-body injury.
After starting the game in net, Junior goalie Andrew Hayden was replaced by freshmen Nick Magusiak. Magusiak made his first appearance in a Billikens uniform this season making 13 saves and letting in only 2 goals.
Sophomore forward Niall Caparon had another big game by dishing out four assists. Caparon has come on strong in the 2015 season and is an integral part of the Billikens offense. He is now tied for second in points on the team.
The Billikens are coming into the MACHA playoffs this upcoming weekend red hot! Playoffs begin Friday at 5pm and then again at 7:15. Saturday games are at 2pm and again at 4:15. The Championship game will take place Sunday at 1pm. All games for the MACHA playoffs will take place at the Webster Groves Ice Arena.
