Saint Louis head men’s soccer coach Mike McGinty announced today that former Evansville standout and St. Louis native Faik Hajderovic (Mehlville High School) has transferred to SLU. The forward will train with the Billikens this spring and begin his final year of eligibility in the fall.
“Faik is a dynamic attacking player and a great addition to our program,” McGinty said. “He was a standout player for Scott Gallagher Metro, and we are glad he has decided to come back home.”
“Being from St. Louis, it’s an honor to be able to represent Saint Louis University and the men’s soccer program,” Hajderovic said. “There are a great group of guys here, and I look forward to playing with them. SLU soccer has a great history of success, and I am happy to be here.”
Hajderovic was a first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection last year after finishing third on the Purple Aces with nine points (2G, 5A). His five assists led the team.
As a sophomore in 2013, Hajderovic was a first-team All-Region and All-Conference choice when he led the team with 20 points on three goals and 14 assists. He led the nation in assists per game (0.74) and tied for the national lead in total assists. During Hajderovic’s freshman campaign, he scored five goals and added five assists en route to All-MVC honors.
In his career, Hajderovic has accumulated 44 points (10G, 24A). Prior to his time at Evansville, Hajderovic prepped at Mehlville High School and was the leading goal scorer on his St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro team. He helped his club to several state championships during his youth career.
