Blues goaltender Brian Elliott is headed to the 2015 NHL All-Star Game this weekend in Columbus.
Elliott will join Blues teammates Kevin Shattenkirk and Vladimir Tarasenko and will be making his second career All-Star appearance, becoming just the third Blues goalie to earn multiple All-Star selections as a Blue (Jacques Plante – 1969, 1970 and Glenn Hall – 1968, 1969, 1970).
Elliott, who leads the NHL with a 1.86 goals-against average this season, will replace Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, who sustained a lower-body injury on Wednesday.
Elliott ranks fourth in the League with a .930 save percentage. He is 13-5-2 with three shutouts in 22 games. Over the past four seasons, the Newmarket, Ontario, native’s .684 win percentage (68-29-9) and 19 shutouts rank second overall, while his 1.86 goals against average and .927 save percentage are both League bests.
The All-Star festivities begin with the DraftKings All-Star Fantasy Draft on Friday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. CT on NBCSN. Next, the Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition is Saturday, Jan. 24 (6 p.m. CT on NBCSN). The weekend concludes with the NHL All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 25 (4 p.m. CT on NBCSN).
