by Press Release

Local sports fans no doubt remember Zack Abron – a star at Francis Howell who went on to have an outstanding career at Mizzou – who is now a member of the St. Louis Attack.

In his four years at Mizzou, Abron ran for over 3,000 yards and averaged 4.5 yards per carry – including his senior season that saw him average 5.1 yards per carry. He had 31 rushing touchdowns as a member of the Tigers from 2000-2003.

“We are thrilled to have a player of Zack’s caliber joining the Attack,” said team owner Andrew Haines. “He’s a local guy who was a huge talent in both high school and college.”

While at Howell, Abron, was an all-state player who during his senior season ran for 1,951 yards and scored 31 touchdowns. He racked up over 100 yards in each of Howell’s 12 games that season, including 194 yards against Jefferson City and 209 against Pattonville.

“The Attack family and I are very excited about the signing of one of Mizzou’s all-time leading running backs, Zack Abron,” said Attack coach Chris McKinney. “He will bring physicality and big-game experience to the team that will help us reach our goal of competing for another championship in 2015.”

The Attack open the 2015 season on March 29 when they travel to Texas to take on the Corpus Christi Fury, and open the home season on April 4 when they host the Rio Grande Valley Sol at the Family Arena.
