With its return to the gridiron set for 2015, the St. Louis SLAM women’s professional tackle football franchise is set for another round of public tryouts scheduled for the next two weekends.
On Saturday, December 6 and 13, indoor tryouts will be held from noon until 2 pm at Tandy Community Center (4206 Kennerly Ave., St. Louis, MO). Registration fee for each tryout is $20 (cash/money order only, no checks).
The tryouts will consist of sprints, agility, strength, conditioning and football assessments. An open question and answer session will close out each two-hour tryout.
Participants are asked to bring workout clothes, shoes (training shoes should be brought but not worn inside the building), water, a towel and, according to its website, a smile. No prior football experience is necessary.
Founded in 2003, the SLAM won the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) National Championship in 2009 and has reached the playoffs four times out of the last six WFA seasons.
Its 2015 schedule will be set at a later date.
Those who cannot make this Saturday’s tryout, but are still interested in future tryouts, can contact the franchise at [email protected].
