Home Baseball My Plea to the Cardinals

My Plea to the Cardinals

by Megan Foster

In the mornings, I have about a 20 minute drive to work after the children get dropped off. During that time, depending on my mood, I like to listen to a little music. Some days I need a little jazzy music to wake me up, other days I need some mellow music to keep me in a good mood, sometimes I just let the radio play to see what will come up next because I’m indifferent, I know you know what I mean. But today, today I needed some music that I could scream sing to. I needed some music that I could turn up really loud in the car and scream along with the loudness. I just kept seeing that 6th inning over and over and over.

I’m not going to type here about any other team but the Cardinals. I’m not going to waste my breath talking about who doesn’t need to do what, I’m just going to make a few simple pleas:

To you, Adam Wainwright, please please oh please, don’t worry about being the nice guy. I like you, everybody likes you, but tonight, and just tonight, let’s worry about getting the win. Channel your inner Chris Carpenter.

To you, Kolten Wong, continue to play like a champ both in the field and in the batter’s box. You have a lot of intensity, feel free to spread it around the dugout.

To you, Matt Adams, I’ve forgiven you for last night…sort of…but let’s make it up by having a two home run game, could ya?

To you, Mike Matheny, please do not use the entire bull pen tonight. And, if it’s down to a one run game in the 9th, please don’t put in Rosenthal.

To you, Matt Holliday, please, oh please, hit a home run for me. Please. Or a triple. I would settle for a triple.

To you, Jhonny Peralta, hit something. Anything. Bunt if you have to.

To you, Matt Carpenter, get the batting party started right at the beginning, just like last night.

To you, Jon Jay, keep doing what you’re doing, and thank you.

To you, Randal Grichuk, remember how you were the first one to get to Kershaw? If it happens to take as long as it does to get to your spot in the line up, please get to Bumgarner.

To you, Yadier Molina, please get healed. Quickly.

We all know, it’s been one of those seasons. Those filled with both ups AND downs, but, unfortunately, I’m not ready to let this season go just yet. So, I only have this last thing to say to the Cardinals: please don’t lose. I’m not ready to throw in the towel, and neither are you.

Here goes nothin.

As always…Go Cards!

You got exactly what you wanted. He didn’t go to Rosenthal. Worked like a dream.
