Saint Louis men’s soccer is No. 6 in the season’s first Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), as released by the NCAA. It is the best ranking for the program since the NCAA began issuing midseason RPIs in 2006.
The rating, which is one of the most important pieces of criteria used to determine the 48-team field for the NCAA Tournament, is a mathematical formula designed to objectively compare results and strength of schedule.
The Billikens, winners of five in a row, are 7-1 overall. They are ranked No. 9 in this week’s CollegeSoccerNews.com poll and 15th in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll. The Soccer America and NSCAA polls will be released tomorrow.
Saint Louis has two wins against teams ranked in the top 25 of the RPI. Still to come on the schedule are matchups against RPI No. 3 Davidson (Friday, Oct. 10) and No. 11 Indiana (Wednesday).
Wednesday’s game against the Hoosiers in Bloomington is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CT). The Billikens open Atlantic 10 Conference play this Sunday against St. Bonaventure. Game time at Hermann Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
