Saint Louis junior setter Meredith Boe and freshman middle blocker Lauren Leverenz were named Atlantic 10 Conference volleyball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The Billikens have received three weekly accolades this season.
Boe was named the tournament Most Valuable Player at the Leatherneck Invitational last weekend in Macomb, Ill. She directed a potent Billiken offense with 123 assists over three matches (12.30 per set), leading SLU to a 3-0 weekend and a tournament title. She also notched 21 digs (2.10 per set), four aces and nine kills with a .615 attack percentage (13 attacks, one error).
Leverenz also was named to the All-Tournament team at the Leatherneck Invitational. She had 23 kills (2.30 per set), five aces and a .375 attack percentage. On the defensive side, Leverenz tallied 15 total blocks (1.50 per set). She had her best match against Eastern Illinois with 11 kills, seven blocks and a .421 attack percentage.
Boe, Leverenz and the rest of the Billikens take on the Missouri Tigers tomorrow, September 9, in Columbia, Mo., at 6:30 p.m. The match will be televised on the SEC Network and online at ESPN3.com.
