IT HAS HAPPENED! The passion, that passion to win, it has reared its pretty head in the Cardinals’ dugout! Two walk-offs in a row, against what some may call one of those “division rivals” in the Cincinnati Reds. Walk-offs are the happiest of happy ways to end games. There’s excitement, there’s pride, there’s jumping around home plate. Two nights in a row! Two in a row!
Recap of the last two nights..I’ll stick with the 9th innings (that I’m sure you already know, but I’ll try and make it even more exciting):
Monday, August 18th: After an implosion by Rosenthal in the 9th (I’m keeping my mouth shut, I’m keeping my mouth shut), the Reds tied up the game at 5. Bottom of the 10th, Holliday hits a single, Adams hits a single, and Peralta singles in Holliday for the walk off win! Celebration at the plate, or first, or where they could get to Peralta!
Tuesday, August 19th: Bottom of the 9th, score tied at 4. Holliday gets a walk, Bourjos comes in to run for him. Matt Adams hits a single. Jhonny Peralta then gets a walk. Bases loaded, Jon Jay at the plate….and he gets hit by the pitch! Bourjos comes in to score; Cards walk off for the second night in a row….on a hit-by-pitch. Not as exciting as the night before, but hey, a walk off is a walk off is a walk off.
I’m not even going to talk about Rosenthal. I’m in too good of a mood from walk-off wins to even think about that.
Here’s to a sweep of those Reds, whether or not it’s a walk-off!
As always, Go Cards!
