Home Baseball Taveras Called To Big Leagues, Adams to DL

Taveras Called To Big Leagues, Adams to DL

It has been a very busy week for Mozeliak and the Cardinals. It all started when Randal Grichuk was called up and when Shane Robinson got sent down to AAA. So far in Grichuk’s Memphis season, he has 10 home runs, 32 RBI’s, and a .315 batting average. It will be a very interesting next couple of games to see how well he contributes to the team. Sending down Robinson will be a important loss for our bench. Robinson is a great outfielder, has a bunch of speed, and he can produce good hits when it’s mostly needed. This may be a big upset around Cardinal Nation, but we should give Grichuk some time to settle in and let him show us what he’s made of. Grichuk did fairly well in Spring Training and in the minors.

In other news, Cardinals first basemen Matt Adams experienced soreness and tightness in his left calf. In result, Adams will be placed on the 15-day disabled list. As Adams will be placed onto the DL, Mozeliak decided to bring up minor league prospect Oscar Taveras. This move is what Cardinals fans have been longing for. It’s time to see what Taveras is made of.

Taveras has insanely high talent. It makes some people wonder what took the organization so long to bring him up. A lot of Cardinals fans, especially looking around on social media, are completely buzzed up about this move. In triple A, Oscar’s offense lights up immensely. In the 2014 AAA season, Taveras has hit 7 out of the park, hit in 40 RBI’s, and and has a .325 average. Not only is he great with a bat – he is a great ball player on the field, too. Taking a look at his stats, he has a field percentage averaging 1.00%. Taveras will be a HUGE part of what this ball club is looking for.

As good of news it is to finally have Taveras up from the minors, how will Adams being gone for a while affect the Cardinals?

As we all know, Adams is a major spark to the Cardinals’ offense. Although, having Taveras around will be a big help. This situation is very bitter-sweet. Even though we are losing such a big bat, Taveras should make the bleeding stop a little bit. 15 days for Adams may not seem all that long, but it is enough time to see what Taveras can have in store for us.

Taveras is an all-around amazing ball player. He’s only twenty-one years old – which just adds to the Cardinals’ list of young prospects. Oscar is a very down-to-earth young man that will be a great addition to the ball club.

As mentioned, it has been a very chaotic week for the Redbirds and Cardinals. Hopefully, this will start solving the solution for the minor “slump” the Cardinals are having.

On a small personal note, I highly apologize for the writing hibernation! Now that school is out and softball is over, I’m highly excited to be writing a bunch more! Go Cardinals.

Keep flying, Cardinal Nation.
