The St. Louis Attack remained undefeated Friday night, beating the Alabama Outlawz 76-65. The Attack clinched home field advantage for the X-Bowl onJune 14 with the victory. St. Louis used a streak of 37 straight unanswered points to pull away in front of their record setting crowd of 6,834 fans.

Wide receiver Deandre Jackson was named the X-Factor. Jackson not only caught four touchdowns, but made two tackles on special teams and added a kick return to the highlight reel with a spinning 25-yard run. Jackson also won the X-Dash again with a time of 4.31 seconds.

Despite his great night, Jackson was quick to give his teammates credit for his success. “My receivers ran routes to get me open and both quarterbacks put the ball where it needed to be,” said Jackson.

Jackson had two different quarterbacks helping him pad his stats. Mike McMullen got the start again and was sharp throwing for two touchdowns and leading the Attack to a 32-21 lead, before giving way to the newcomer Robert Kent after halftime. On his very first snap as a member of the Attack, Kent scrambled right and hit Jackson across the middle for a 20-yard touchdown. On his third snap, he once again found Jackson for another touchdown. Kent capped the Attack scoring with a bootleg touchdown run with 28 seconds left.

On the ground, St. Louis relied on the two-headed monster that is Keenan Miller and Darryl Grady Jr. Miller posted two touchdowns, including a remarkable 41-yard touchdown with only 15 seconds left in the first half. Grady, the thunder to Miller’s lightning, had his punishing running technique on display once again, scoring two touchdowns of one and 12 yards.

The Attack were solid once again on the front line. The offensive line kept both quarterbacks upright and opened holes throughout the night for the backs. On the defensive side, the Attack effectively neutralized the Outlawz ground game.

Special teams play was another highlight for St. Louis. Jason Null, who also plays on the defensive line, made eight extra points and the kick coverage team gave Alabama no running lanes.

The highlight of the night for Alabama was the play of quarterback Garret Sutphen who threw seven touchdowns for the Outlawz.

Even though the Attack can’t improve their standing in the X-League any further, Jackson and his teammates aren’t going to get complacent.

“It means a lot to get to play the X-Bowl at the Family Arena, but we have to stay focused,” said Jackson. “We have to make sure we don’t let our foot off anyone’s neck. It doesn’t mean anything if we don’t win that championship game

The Attack’s next home game is a non-league tilt against the Gateway Hawks on May 10 at 7:35 pm for Mercy Hospital, Issac Bruce Night.
