Saint Louis University head men’s basketball coach Jim Crews announced today that Milik Yarbrough (Zion, Ill./Zion-Benton Township H.S.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and play basketball for the Billikens.
Yarbrough, the sixth member of the Billikens’ 2014-15 recruiting class, begins his four years of eligibility next season.
“We are very excited to welcome Milik into our program,” Crews said. “He is big-bodied and has a lot of flexibility to his game. He certainly knows where the bucket is, which is outstanding. On his visit, Milik really fit in well with our players, and he understands what we believe in here.”
Yarbrough, a 6-6 small forward, was a four-year starter at Zion-Benton Township H.S. in Zion, Ill., a northern suburb of Chicago. With more than 2,600 career points, Yarbrough is the all-time leading boys’ basketball scorer in Lake County history.
As a senior, Yarbrough averaged 25.4 ppg, 8.8 rpg and 4.7 apg for the Zee-Bees, who posted a 26-4 record. He was named first-team All-State by the News-Gazette and drew second-team All-State honors from the Chicago Tribune and the Associated Press. Yarbrough was a three-time Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) All-State selection and registered All-Conference plaudits all four years of high school.
Yarbourgh joins a recruiting class that already consists of 6-4 guard Marcus Bartley (Decatur, Ill./MacArthur H.S.), 6-11 center Austin Gillmann (St. Louis, Mo./Oakville H.S.), 6-10 forward Brett Jolly (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll H.S./Blair (N.J.) Academy), 6-2 guard Miles Reynolds (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young H.S.) and 6-4 guard Davell Roby (Memphis, Tenn./White Station H.S.).
