For the second time this season, Saint Louis junior RHP James Norwood has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced today. It is the fifth weekly award won by a Billiken this season.
Norwood stifled one of the top offenses in the league in his start on Friday. He threw a complete-game two-hitter without allowing an earned run against the Richmond Spiders. Norwood had six strikeouts and one walk. The Spiders managed just five base runners. Norwood held opposing hitters to a .069 average.
This season, Norwood is fourth in the A-10 in ERA (2.35), first in opponent batting average (.186), third in strikeouts (52), fifth in wins (5) and fourth in innings pitched (65.0).
Norwood and the Billikens take on UT Martin April 22 in Martin, Tenn. Freshman RHP Zach Girrens will get the ball for SLU.
