The St. Louis Attack won their Season Opener against the Georgia Rampage 46-34 at the Family Arena in St. Charles.

As expected, the defense lived up to expectation, totaling 6 forced turnovers.  The game started with a interception on the first play from scrimmage for the Rampage. The Attack secondary recorded 5 interceptions total.  The Attack defensive line should have paid the Rampage quarterback rent, because they were camped out in the back field all night.  The defense didn’t surrender a point in the first quarter and only allowed 10 points in the first half.

“Antonio Tee O Nelson came up big with timely interceptions,” Head Coach Chris McKinney said on his defense. “The defense as a unit kept us in it, when the offense faltered, I knew I could rely on our D to keep us in the game.”

The scoring started early for the offense with Darryl Grady Jr. relentless running game.  At the end of the first quarter the Attack lead the Rampage 18-0.  Grady recorded four touchdowns total and was an unstoppable force around the end zone.  The offense staled in the 4th quarter after a few turnovers and Attack Quarterback Brandon Walsh being knocked out of the game with a face laceration.

“Darryl Grady Jr. ran the ball hard and didn’t take a wrong read all night,” stated McKinney, “He was rewarded from all his hard work and heart this week in practice.  Grady did everything we asked of him and that is why he got the ball around the goal line all night.”

The game came down to a do or die forth down play with eight seconds remaining.  A touchdown by the Rampage would have tied the game, because the X Ball was in play and points are doubled in the game’s final minute, but the defense came up big with the support of the Attack fans and picked off DeMarcus Simons for their 5th interception of the game.

The Attack will now travel to Alabama to take on the Outlawz on March 6th, before returning home to take on the Flordia Marine Raiders on April 11th.  Be part of the excitement for one of the biggest games of the year at the Family Arena at 7:35pm.
