The Chill killed off seven Cutthroat power plays and goalie Linus Lundin stopped 38 shots but an even-strength goal from defenseman Sean Zimmerman late in the first period stood as the game-winner for Denver in a 1-0 win in the first of six straight road games for St. Charles.

The Chill (10-32-5) withstood an early rush from Denver (23-13-10), killing off a pair of power plays in the first period as Lundin posted 13 saves but the Cutthroats cracked the scoreboard at the 18:37 mark to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

St. Charles came on strong late in the second period but could not put the puck past Kent Patterson despite constant pressure at the top of the crease.  The intensity picked up in the middle of the period and would carry over into the final frame.

After killing off a power play to start the third St. Charles battled throughout the final period and took control of the game midway through the period with three power plays but could not find the back of the net as the Cutthroats held on for a 1-0 win.  The two teams battle again Saturday night with puck drop set for 7:00 p.m. CST.

The Chill return to the Family Arena on February 28th for Brett Hull Night and will be wearing specialty Hull-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off to benefit Mercy Kids.  For tickets or more information on the St. Charles Chill, visit www.stcharleschill.com or call 636-724-SHOT (7468).
