First and foremost, I know this isn’t really going to be like any of my other articles. But this is something that has been on my heart lately.
So, during the summer, I met a true hero of mine, Jason Motte, at an autograph and picture session. Just talking to the man for a minute, and getting to shake his hand, was very exciting and honorable for me. This guy is a hero, and a game changer. No, not just a baseball game changer. And here’s why.
The Cardinals very own Jason Motte, as Cardinal Nation knows, has been out due to post-surgery. During his off time from the pitching mound, he has been making an impact on many people’s lives.
The program Jason helps out with is called “K Cancer”, which obviously means, “Striking out cancer”. The program is affiliated with the 108 Stitches Program.
If you look at past articles about this foundation, you will see that Jason has been doing a lot to help out with the cancer community. He takes a lot of his time visiting sick children in the hospital. How I take it, seeing these kids smile is just what Jason wants to do.
If you even know someone with cancer, you should know how hard it is to watch these people go through so much struggle and sadness. With Jason, tears and frowns doesn’t always have to be the outcome. Jason spends a lot of his time in children’s hospitals, like they are his best friends.
The Strike Out Childhood Cancer Foundation is also selling ” K Cancer” T-Shirts, and the proceeds go to the cancer society.
I have read a few other articles about Jason and his program. I’ve seen that Jason is really enjoying his off-time from pitching, instead of being sad about it. It seems that he really enjoys being around these kids.
What Jason has done really warms the heart. It’s nice seeing this huge MLB star helping children smile. How much more simple and warm-hearted can it get? A man and a child bonding like they’ve known each other for a long time.
This article is pretty short and sweet. But I just wanted to get this out there, and show how much Cardinal Nation supports him through this program. So far, ever since the T-Shirts have been selling, I have been seeing them everywhere. Out at a restaurant, at a Cardinals game, or during a grocery shopping trip. It warms my heart knowing that this MLB pitching star is making a change to the cancer community.
Jason, coming from someone who lost their mom to cancer (sorry to get this mushy in an article), know that you are doing one hell of a GREAT job. I know many children look up to you. Knowing that you’re looking out for them, I’m sure they look at you as their one true hero, as their Superman.
If you readers would like to learn more about Jason’s awesome program, I will provide a link below. You can also buy a T-Shirt from the website.
Like I said, I know this was a different article. But what Jason does means a lot to me, Cardinal Nation, and families of sick children all around the St. Louis area.
Thank you Jason, and good luck to you and the rest of the guys in the World Series. Cardinal Nation has your back!
Thank you for reading, everyone! Happy World Series!
Keep flying, Cardinal Nation.
