Three seniors from last year’s Saint Louis University men’s basketball team have signed professional contracts to play overseas. Forward Cody Ellis has signed with the Sydney Kings in Australia, guard Kwamain Mitchell will play with SLUNETA Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic and forward Cory Remekun has signed with Dragons Rhoendorf in Germany.
Ellis, who helped Australia to an appearance in the World University Games final in Russia earlier this year, will report to the Sydney Kings of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL) in December. Joining Ellis in the Australian NBL is recent graduate Brian Conklin, who was signed by the Townsville Crocodiles after a season with the Southland Sharks in New Zealand.
Mitchell is playing in Usti nad Labem in the Mattoni NBL in the Czech Republic, the top league in the country. He is the only player in SLU history to rank in the top five in career assists and steals as well as the top 10 in career points.
Remekun has reported to the Dragons in Bad Honnef, Germany, which plays in the ProB league. Remekun finished his Billiken career tied for third on SLU’s all-time list with 113 blocks.
