You’re Killin’ Me, Boggs!

by

So, Michael Wacha started last night. Took a perfect game into the 5th inning. Struck out the first major league batter he faced. Got a hit in his first major league at bat. His start lived up to expectations that everyone from the fans to the media had. And then, Boggs came into the ballgame in the 9th.

I’m not going to rant and rave about this, but jeez Pete, you have GOT to be kidding me. I live in Kansas City. I’m a Cardinals’ fan in Kansas City, and I’m going to hide out today, just because I don’t want to hear it. This should have been a series sweep. It should have kept the Cards up 2.5 on Pittsburgh (who has won 3 in a row, by the way). Instead, we’re looking at 1.5 up on the Pirates, and 2.5 up on the Reds going into a weekend series against the Giants.

So, what’s the answer here? I have a lot of suggestions, but I really don’t want to hate on any guy that wears a Cardinal uniform. Unfortunately, I don’t get paid the big bucks to make those decisions, either. I just really don’t want to see Boggs in the bullpen ever again.

Did I mention that last night there was a 4.5 hour rain delay? Yeah, the Royals still won. Good morning.

On to the next one. Go Cards!

The Royals managed 4 total hits and scored 4 runs. While we scored 2 runs on 8 hits. There was an error by Marte that made more damage. If you are winning 2-1, it is hard to keep it that way, especially with how baseball is. You never know what is going to happen. If it was Mujica that blew it, I pretty sure you wouldn’t have had this big of a stink.

True buy this is the 6th lead that was blown by boggs. It is unnacceptable

You can hang that loss on manager Mike Matheny, you have a short bullpen so you bring in Choate to pitch to 2 batters and Maness to pitch to 1 batter. Why not bring Maness back out for the 9th and finish the game?? Trying to revive Boggs confidence at this point is a waste of time. Bring him in when you are up 7-1 in the 8th inning or something, not in the bottom of the ninth with the game on the line. You set him up to fail again!!! Matheny you are smarter than that, you outsmarted yourself with all your late inning pitching moves last night…..

You’re right, I wouldn’t have, but that’s because Mujica doesn’t cost the starters decisions every time he comes in from the bullpen.

You never know what is going to happen in that situation usually…. but we all knew what was going to happen when Boggs was warming up. They just need to figure out a way to clone Mujica. lol
