The Alton River Dragons are thrilled to announce the hiring of Australian baseball talent, Kurt Russell, as their hitting coach for the 2024 season. Russell, hailing from Perth, Western Australia, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the River Dragons organization.
Kurt Russell’s journey in the world of baseball began in the Western Australian high-performance baseball program, where he honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the game. Over the years, Russell has taken on various roles within the Western Australian State baseball program, including outfield coach, hitting coach, third base coach, first base coach, and a National championship-winning manager. His dedication and commitment to the sport have made him a prominent figure in Australian baseball.
Russell has also played a pivotal role in the Western Australian high-performance program as the outfield coordinator and hitting coach, working alongside Perth Heat and Australian 18U manager Andrew Kyle. His contributions have significantly contributed to the growth and development of young baseball talent in Western Australia.
One of the highlights of Kurt Russell’s coaching career was his selection to coach the Australian 16U national development camp, where he served as an outfield and hitting coach. His ability to connect with players and enhance their skills has been instrumental in his rise in the baseball coaching ranks. In addition to his work in the development programs, Kurt Russell made a significant impact in the Australian Baseball League (ABL) as an Outfield and First Base coach with the Perth Heat. In his debut season with the Heat, he played a pivotal role in assisting the team’s journey to the Australian championship series.
