MLS SuperDraft Selection John Klein Signs with St Louis CITY2

St. Louis CITY2 has signed John Klein to an MLS NEXT Pro contract for the upcoming season. The former Saint Louis University midfielder is joining the club on a one-year deal, with an option for 2024.

“We’re excited to bring Johnny into the fold,” CITY2 head coach Bobby Murphy said. “He showed great offensive instincts at SLU, so we know he can be a dynamic player for us. His playing style and personality embodies what we’re trying to build here at this club. We are looking forward to seeing his impact this season.”

Klein was selected by St. Louis CITY SC with the 30th overall pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft following his standout career at SLU. In 88 total games for the Billikens, Klein recorded 29 goals and 27 assists. Following the 2022 season, the Kansas City, Missouri, native was named Atlantic 10 Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year. His play helped SLU reach the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals in 2021 and the NCAA Tournament Second Round in 2022.
