The St. Louis Ambush have re-signed defender Jeff Michaud to a five-year deal, the team announced today. Per league and team policies, no further details of the deal were disclosed.
The upcoming 2022-23 season will be Michaud’s third in the Major Arena Soccer League. He originally came to the Ambush in a trade with the Baltimore Blast in February. Michaud began his professional indoor soccer career with the Orlando SeaWolves in 2019. After sitting out the COVID-shortened 2021 season, he joined Baltimore for the 2021-22 campaign before finishing the season with St. Louis. In 34 career MASL games, Michaud has scored 16 goals, added 16 assists, and has blocked 43 opponent shots.
Michaud is a native of West Palm Beach, Florida. He played four years of collegiate soccer, starting at the University of Central Florida in 2011 before transferring to Eastern Florida State College in 2013. He played for the Fort Lauderdale Schulz Academy (PDL) in 2011. Jeff appeared in four games with the Tampa Bay Rowdies (NASL) during their 2015-16 season. In 2016, he joined the Wilimington Hammerheads (USL) on loan. Michaud has also spent time with the South Florida Surf (USL League Two), Miami FC (USL Championship) and Forward Madison FC (NPSL).
Ambush General Manager and Head Coach Jeff Locker said, “We were impressed with Michaud’s first season with our team and are happy to acquire his services for the next five seasons as he continues to develop and sharpen his skills in the indoor game.”
The upcoming 2022-23 season is the tenth for the Ambush. Their home opener is slated for Black Friday, November 25, 2022 at 5:05 p.m. CT at The Family Arena in St. Charles. It is the first of a two-game series against the Kansas City Comets to open the MASL season. The Comets host the second game the next night, November 25, at Cable-Dahmer Arena in Independence.
