SHINEDOWN CREDITS ST. LOUIS FANS AND 105.7 THE POINT FOR MAKING BILLBOARD CHART HISTORY

by Danya Artimisi

If you’re a fan of Shinedown and you’re from St. Louis, give yourself a giant, warm hug because according to the band’s  Zach Myers and Brent Smith, YOU are the reason for their explosive success over the last 20 years. At the end of 2019, Billboard announced that Shinedown tied Three Days Grace for Most Mainstream Rock Songs Number Ones in [Billboard] Chart’s History.

It’s been a whirlwind for the band since Smith’s previous band, Dreve, was dissolved in 2001, giving way for the birth of the monster we know as the incomparable Shinedown.

Immediately, we wanted to know what it felt like when they heard the news that they had just broken a major Billboard record and this is what Zach and Brent had to say.

“A handful of cities exist for our band personally that feel like “home away from Home…St. Louis, and 105.7 The POINT have been that for us since day  one. Shinedown wouldn’t be where we are today without their love, and unwavering support through a 2 decade career, and counting. St. Louis is such a strong, and diverse city with an enormous heart, filled with life, and creativity.  We adore this city, and ALL of the incredible people that call it home”.

-Zach Myers, and Brent Smith of SHINEDOWN

We know that bands today, whether mainstream or independent, need the abiding support when it comes to  executing their vision. The vast majority of artists’ vision is to share their art with the world. Therefore, it’s imperative to find someone who will walk behind them or carry them when needed and Chris Frank of In De Goot Entertainment has been one of those load-bearing walls in the Shinedown structure.

When we asked him about the record breaking news, he shared this.

“Achieving a milestone like this doesn’t happen overnight and it doesn’t happen without the support of amazing radio partners like The Point.  As a native St. Louisan who’s seen the rock music landscape change over the years, there’s always been a constant and that is The Point’s support of Shinedown.  There’s an authenticity to the bond that the band has with the Point and the people of the St. Louis that you can feel is real every time Shinedown takes the stage here.  This Pointfest will be the next chapter in the legacy of how St. Louis embraces great rock n’ roll bands like Shinedown.”

-Chris Frank: Senior Director Of Radio Promotion / In De Goot Entertainment

The Point is hosting Shinedown as their headliner at Pointfest on May 9, 2020 at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre.  Tickets are still available. It’s time to celebrate. Besides, I’m going out on a limb here, but I’m willing to bet that they also want to celebrate YOU.
