The St. Louis Cardinals announced this afternoon that All-Star catcher Yadier Molina had his left thumb examined earlier today by a St. Louis-based hand specialist and it was determined that the injury to the ligament still is present, but Molina will have a splint built to try to allow for him to both hit and catch. Molina will test his playing abilities with the splint over the next few days.
Molina, as of today, is feeling stronger and Cardinals Senior V.P./General Manager John Mozeliak stated, “We are still optimistic that Yadier will be on our postseason roster.”
