49 Winchester – Luke Combs’ Favorite Band – in St. Louis this Weekend

This Saturday, August 20th | 8PM | Old Rock House

49 Winchester came onto my radar at the beginning of this year and almost immediately became one of my favorite bands. Though I had heard of them long before that I had never given them the attention they deserve – that is until they began releasing singles from their (then upcoming) album Fortune Favors the Bold. Since those pre-releases that album has propelled the band to great new levels of well-deserved popularity and even attracted one of the biggest 49 Winchester fans to date: country music superstar Luke Combs.

I had the privilege of hosting lead singer Isaac Gibson on an episode of the #ArchCityMusic Podcast a few months ago before catching their shows on tour with Whiskey Myers and Shane Smith and the Saints in both St. Louis and the Lake of the Ozarks. Those shows were a blast, as expected, but I was certainly left wishing for more from 49 Winchester; their sets were too short for my liking and I’ve since been eagerly awaiting my chance to see them as the headliner. Despite leaving me wishing for more, the show itself was phenomenal and we even got the chance to meet up with some of the band at the Ozarks Amphitheater:

Though those short sets left something (more) to be desired (needed) they laid the foundation for the months of anticipation of tomorrow’s show. I imagine we will see the majority, if not all, of the Fortune Favors the Bold track list, and I’d bet we see many of the early hits like Everlasting Lover and Hays, Kansas. As if the music wasn’t alluring enough, the venue itself provides plenty reason why you can’t miss this concert. The Old Rock House is one of the best places in town to see a show due to its ample size that maintains an intimate feel. The patio adds a nice touch for brief spells of relief from the party inside and the location is easy for anyone to get both in and out of. The best part is that tickets are only $15 ($20 at the door) so I promise you that you won’t find cheaper fun anywhere in town this weekend. Be sure to get those tickets while you still can and if you’re going to make it to the show, reach out on Twitter via @AustyTalksMusic and let me know!
