The Memphis Redbirds dropped the series finale to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Saturday afternoon at AutoZone Park by a final score of 6-3. The Redbirds dropped five of six in the series at home.

Trailing 4-0 in the sixth inning, Alec Burleson doubled in a run with two-outs to put Memphis on the board. That was all the Redbirds would muster until the ninth, when they tallied two runs on three hits in the last inning. Jacksonville pitching scattered nine hits on the afternoon and kept the Redbirds at bay.

Connor Thomas (1-2) was dealt the loss after surrendering four runs on six hits in six innings. Lewin Diaz roped a two-run double in the third inning to start off the scoring, and in the sixth Willians Astudillo skipped his fourth home run out of the park to make it 4-0. Jacksonville would add runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Edward Cabrera (1-0) was strong for the Jumbo Shrimp, striking out six over five scoreless frames. The Redbirds stole a season-high four bases while he was on the mound.

Memphis hits the road for a two-week road trip starting in Norfolk on Tuesday, May 10. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35pm CDT.
