Bolts Dominate Grizzlies Behind Seven-Run 7th

by

CRESTWOOD, Ill. – A monstrous seven-run 7th for the Thunderbolts paved the way to handing the Grizzlies a 14-7 loss on Saturday night.

Gateway struck first with a strong 1st inning. Jose Rosario walked with the bases loaded, Andres Regnault notched an infield single and Justin Jones roped a two-run double to put the Grizzlies ahead 4-0. But shortly after, Windy City began chipping away. Zac Taylor hit a sacrifice fly in the 1st before a run 2nd inning gave the Thunderbolts the lead for good.

Rosario added some late life in the top of the 7th with a solo homer to cut the deficit to 7-5 at the time. However, 12 Bolts batters collected seven runs on six hits to seal the win.

LHP Aaron Ford (0-1) took the loss in his first decision of 2021. LHP Miguel Ausua (1-0) earned the win after keeping Gateway off the board for 4.2 more innings after the 1st.

The Grizzlies and T-Bolts play two on Sunday at Ozinga Field. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. and you can listen live on YO Radio or watch on Frontier League TV starting with the Budweiser Pregame Show at 11:50 p.m.
