Saint Louis junior forward Hasahn French and junior guard Jordan Goodwin announced today their intentions to enter their names in the 2020 NBA Draft process. The announcements were made on their personal social media accounts.
“After consulting with Coach Ford and my family, I’ve made the decision to enter my name into the 2020 NBA Draft,” Goodwin said on Instagram. “I am leaving all my options open and will maintain my eligibility throughout the process. I look forward to the journey and seeing what God has in store for me.”
“I am announcing today that I am entering my name in the 2020 NBA Draft,” French said on his Instagram. “I will maintain my eligibility throughout this process. It has always been my dream to play in the NBA, and I’m extremely thankful to everyone who has helped me get to this point in my career.”
NCAA legislation allows student-athletes with eligibility remaining to “test the waters” to pursue a professional career without losing their eligibility. Therefore, should French and Goodwin withdraw their names from the NBA Draft by June 3, they can return to SLU for their senior seasons in 2020-21.
“I am very proud of Hasahn and Jordan and fully support their decision,” SLU head coach Travis Ford said. “Since the moment I started recruiting them, I knew it was their dream to play in the NBA. They have worked extremely hard in their three years to get to this point, and they are now rewarded with a great opportunity to see where they stand. They remain great leaders of Team Blue, and we will continue to aid and support them in every step throughout this process.”
French is coming off a season that saw him score 12.4 ppg and lead the A-10 with 10.4 rpg. The second-team All-Conference pick and two-time A-10 All-Defensive selection holds SLU records for blocked shots in a career (202) and season (77 in 2019-20). French is the only active NCAA Division I player with 200+ career blocked shots, 170+ career assists and 85+ career steals.
A first-team All-Conference and All-Defensive selection by the Atlantic 10, Goodwin led SLU with 15.5 ppg. He also was one of the top rebounding guards in the country with 10.4 rpg, which ranked in the top 25 nationally. Goodwin ranked 24th in the country with 64 steals. He led the Atlantic 10 with 15 double-doubles, and he scored in double figures in all but three games this season.
