UPDATED LIST OF STL SPORTS AFFECTED BY COVID-19 SITUATION

Arch City Media is providing updates to the current status of area sports franchises that are monitoring COVID-19 and their future plans.

UPDATED FRIDAY, APRIL 10 – 2 AM

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

On Monday, March 16, Major League Baseball announced a delayed start of the regular season in keeping with the CDC’s recommended eight-week restrictions on events. Opening day was scheduled for Thursday, March 26. As listed in the St. Louis Cardinals’ website, “although the regular season has been delayed by at least two weeks, no games have been cancelled.” At this time, fans should retain their game tickets and await further direction as details are being finalized.

CARDINALS MUSEUM – Closed until further notice.

STADIUM TOURS – All tours have been cancelled until further notice.

CARDINALS BOX OFFICE – Closed until further notice

OTHER EVENTS – The Cardinals 5K, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 11, has been postponed.

The Mitel & MLB Present London Series between the Cardinals and Cubs that was scheduled to play at London Stadium on June 13-14 has been cancelled. The London Series website states that the series will not take place at any time this season.

ST. LOUIS BLUES

The National Hockey League has currently paused the 2019-20 season and will continue to monitor the situation.

All scheduled Louie, Blue Crew, Street Team appearances have been cancelled. All team events through the second week of April have been postponed.

ST. LOUIS FC

On March 18, the United Soccer League suspended the 2020 season until Sunday, May 10. STLFC games are postponed until a May 16 road game against Birmingham FC.

The next home game for STLFC is slated for Saturday, June 6 against Charlotte Independence at West Community Stadium.

WORLD WIDE TECHNOLOGY RACEWAY

As a result of rescheduling by the NTT IndyCar Series, the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 scheduled for Saturday, August 22 has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 30. Other races originally scheduled for the August 22 event are currently being evaluated.

The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) event scheduled for April 3 has been moved to July 10 & 11.

An adjustment has been made to the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals, now held October 2-4.

All other nightly events at the facility are currently suspended.

GATEWAY GRIZZLIES BASEBALL

The Frontier League announced on Wednesday, April 1 that they are officially delaying the scheduled May 14th start of the 2020 Frontier League season. The Grizzlies first contest at GCS Ballpark is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19.

ST. LOUIS UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS

On March 12, the Atlantic 10 Conference cancelled all 2020 spring sports competitions (conference and non-conference), and 2020 spring conference championships. This decision was made in consultation with the A-10 Presidents’ Council and Athletic Directors.

UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI ATHLETICS

On March 12, the Southeastern Conference announced that all athletics activities, including competitions, team and individual practices, meetings and other organized gatherings, will be suspended through at least April 15.

SIU-EDWARDSVILLE ATHLETICS

On March 12, the Ohio Valley Conference Board of Presidents suspended athletic-related activities including all competition, and formal practices until further notice.

LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS

On March 13, the Great Lakes Valley Conference and its member schools unanimously voted to cancel all post-season GLVC Championships and suspend all practice and competitions.

UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS ATHLETICS

On March 13, the Great Lakes Valley Conference and its member schools unanimously voted to cancel all post-season GLVC Championships and suspend all practice and competitions.

HIGHLAND SPEEDWAY

All race events including Play Day, Lucky 40, Party in the Park and future races are postponed until further notice.

ST. LOUIS SLAM FOOTBALL

The Women’s Football Alliance has postponed their 2020 season until May 2.  The SLAM is slated to host the Columbia Vanguards on May 2.

ST. LOUIS SABRES WOMEN’S RUGBY

On March 20, USA Rugby announced a suspension of activities until further notice.

ARCH RIVAL ROLLER DERBY

The St. Louis-based franchise has currently suspended all activity until May.

ST. CHUX DERBY CHIX

The St. Charles County-based franchise tentatively resumes play locally on May 16 vs. Sioux Falls.

GATEKEEPERS ROLLER DERBY

The Men’s Roller Derby World Cup event scheduled for mid-July at Midwest Sport Hockey has been cancelled.

ST. LOUIS VIPERS HOCKEY

On March 26, the National Roller Hockey League postponed their 2020 season. As a result, the Vipers games scheduled for Family Arena this summer will not take place. The NRHL will return May 2021.

ALL ELITE WRESTLING

The All Elite Wrestling event that was scheduled at Chaifetz Arena on Wednesday, April 8 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 7. Tickets purchased in advance can either be used for admission for October 7 or can be refunded via the point of purchase.

SICW WRESTLING

Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling’s  next event at the East Carondelet Community Center is set for April 18.

DYNAMO PRO WRESTLING

Dynamo Pro Wrestling’s next event is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at Concordia Turner’s Hall in St. Louis.

FAIRMOUNT PARK RACE TRACK

Fairmount Park and its OTBs will remain closed until further notice.

ST. LOUIS LIONS WOMEN’S SOCCER

Locally, the St. Louis Lions WPSL is still tentatively slated to play their seasonal opener May 31 against WPSL Heartland Conference champion Elite Girls Academy in Omaha, Nebraska.

On the national level, the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) will delay the start of their season that was to take place the weekend of May 9. As a result, there will be no post-season tournaments held this season in order for all leagues to complete all regular season games. The WPSL will recognize all 22 conference champions at season’s conclusion.
