St. Louis Lions WPSL is ready to take to the pitch for their third campaign within the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) and the squad recently revealed their 2020 schedule that launches in late-May.

The team finished 2019 with a 7-2-1 record for 22 points and finished third in the extremely feisty WPSL Central Region – Heartland Conference. Their eight-game docket contains battles against the other four teams within the conference and half of the games will be held at the Tony Glavin Sports Complex in Cottleville, Missouri.
The first pair of competitive contests finds the Lions on the road facing factions that placed higher than them in the 2019 standings. The Lions’ season opener on Sunday, May 31 involves Heartland Conference champion Elite Girls Academy in Omaha, Nebraska.
As the week progresses, the Lions meet Fire & Ice SC, who finished in second in the conference, on June 3 at Althoff High School in Belleville, Illinois.
The Lions’ home opener in Cottleville takes place on Saturday, June 6 against conference rep Springfield Lady Demize. The teams will play each other the next two weekends with another match at Cottleville on June 13 and then at Cooper Stadium in Springfield June 19.
The Lions then host two in a row at Tony Glavin with a Sunday, June 21 meeting with KC Courage followed by a Wednesday, June 24 home finale showdown with Fire & Ice SC.
The final game of the season finds the Lions on a I-70 road trip to KC Courage on June 28.
The Lions made incredible strides last season and many are projecting them to be in the thick of things within the WPSL complexion this summer.
The team, which features numerous area collegiate standouts, will be assembled shortly.
