Blues Acquire Defenseman Marco Scandella From Montreal

St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the team has acquired defenseman Marco Scandella from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a second-round pick in 2020 and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2021.  In addition, the team has placed defenseman Jay Bouwmeester on Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTI) and assigned defenseman Niko Mikkola to the team’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

Scandella, 29, has dressed in 51 games between the Canadiens (20) and Buffalo Sabres (31) this season, totaling 12 points (four goals, eight assists), a +10 rating and 16 penalty minutes.  The 6’3, 208-pound defenseman was originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the second round, 55th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.  Across 10 seasons, Scandella has appeared in 569 regular-season games and tallied 136 points (42 goals, 94 assists) along with 227 penalty minutes.  He has also played in 39 career postseason games, recording nine points (six goals, three assists) and six penalty minutes.
