St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the Blues have placed forward Oskar Sundqvist on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.
Sundqvist suffered the injury during the Blues’ 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday night in Tampa Bay and will be re-evaluated upon the team’s return to St. Louis. A complete update on his status will be given early next week.
In addition, the Blues have recalled forward Austin Poganski from the team’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.
Sundqvist, 25, has dressed in 26 games this season, tallying 12 points (eight goals, four assists) and 16 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 209-pound forward was originally acquired by the Blues via trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins on June 23, 2017. Overall, the Boden, Sweden, native has amassed 52 points (24 goals, 28 assists) and 58 penalty minutes in 170 career regular-season games.
Poganski, 23, was originally drafted by the Blues in the fourth round (No. 110 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. This season, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward has appeared in 21 games with the Rampage, posting 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) and six penalty minutes. Overall, the St. Cloud, Minnesota, native has spent the past three seasons in San Antonio, totaling 46 points (12 goals, 34 assists) and 18 penalty minutes.
